LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say a man was stabbed in the head in north Las Vegas while trying to defend a homeless woman who was being verbally harassed by another man.

Police Lt. David Gordon says a man was harassing a woman near Main Street and Owens Avenue just before midnight Sunday when a man passing by tried to intervene.

Gordon says the man stabbed the passerby in the head and ran away. He was arrested soon after.



The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2x6yI0O) the passerby was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police did not release the identities of those involved.
