FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - A woman who pulled over to the shoulder of a Fairfax County highway to get something from her trunk was struck and killed in a fatal hit and run.

Virginia State Police say the accident occurred at about 2:20 a.m. on Saturday. Police say the woman was driving a Toyota Solara and traveling westbound on Interstate-66 when she pulled over. When she got out of the car another car hit and killed her. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Yesenia Esmeralda Funes.

Police say the suspect vehicle is a charcoal gray or black sedan that is missing its passenger-side mirror and has damage to its passenger side wheel well. They are seeking the public’s help in finding and identifying the car and its driver.
