PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police have arrested a man suspected of causing a collision that has left one woman dead and another critically injured.

Police say 26-year-old Randall Nelson was booked Saturday on charges of negligent homicide, endangerment and aggravated assault.

Police Lt. Paul Taylor says the collision happened around 1:15 a.m. in the area of 28th Avenue and Cactus Road.

Investigators say Nelson’s vehicle was traveling through the intersection when it struck another car. That car then hit a tractor-trailer.

A woman in the second car died at the scene. A 23-year-old woman also in the car was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver suffered minor injuries.

Taylor says impairment and speed have not been ruled out as factors in the crash.
