JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man who volunteered to help some workers unload a refrigeration unit outside a Jersey City deli was seriously injured when the unit fell on him.
City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill tells The Jersey Journal (https://bit.ly/2dtYLon ) that the man suffered life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition.
Morrill says the accident occurred around 12:10 p.m. Tuesday. She says the workers were unloading the unit from a truck when the man - who was across the street - came over and offered to help.
The unit fell on the man a short time later. The workers then used a metal bar to pry the unit off him.
Authorities have not released the man’s name or disclosed further details on his injuries.
