PHOENIX (AP) - The Latest on a deadly collision (all times local):

11:20 a.m.

Phoenix police say a second 20-year-old man has died from injuries in an early morning wreck in which both vehicles hit trees and that a third young man is hospitalized in extremely critical condition.



Sgt. Jonathan Howard says the two men who died were both ejected from a vehicle that caught fire after striking a tree Monday and that the hospitalized 20-year-old man was driving the second vehicle that struck a tree on the other side of Central Avenue.

Howard says detectives are still investigating the crash but that a witness reported that the vehicles appeared to be racing southbound when both drivers lost control.

No identities have been released.

7:25 a.m.

Officials say two vehicles collided on Central Avenue in north Phoenix, killing one person and critically injuring two others, and police Sgt. Jonathan Howard says police are investigating a witness’ report that the vehicles apparently were racing.

Fire Capt. Aaron Ernsberg says both cars involving in the incident early Monday morning struck trees and that one of them burst into flames.

Ernsberger says firefighters had to use power tools to get a trapped driver out of one of the cars and that two people were ejected from the car that caught fire.
