BOURNE, Mass. (AP) - A blaze at an apartment building has displaced more than a dozen residents and caused $1 million in damage.

The Cape Cod Times reports (https://bit.ly/2e8PJlv ) that an early morning fire at the Canal View Apartments started in one unit but spread quickly because of heavy winds. Fire officials say no one was injured, but that a 50-foot section of the building’s roof has collapsed.

About 25 firefighters from the Bourne Fire Department and other agencies worked to extinguish the fire, which started around midnight.

Fire officials say it’s unclear if residents will ever be able to move back into the 10-unit building. The American Red Cross is helping residents find temporary housing.

Local and state fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
