ELMWOOD PLACE, Ohio (AP) - A man is dead after fire officials say a blaze ripped through an apartment in southwest Ohio.

The fire broke out around 4 p.m. Sunday in Elmwood Place. Investigators say the victim was trapped in a second-floor apartment where most of the fire was contained.

Elmwood Place Fire Chief Matt Morgan tells WLWT-TV crews made an attack on the fire and located the victim, whose name hasn’t been released.

The building suffered smoke and water damage but officials say it isn’t a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
