HILLCREST HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) - An emergency response drill will bring first responders to the green line’s Southern Ave station in Prince George’s County.

Authorities are conducting an emergency response drill Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Metro says the exercise will test emergency responders’ ability to evacuate a disabled train that has encountered smoke in the tunnel.

The exercise will involve Metro officials as well as first responders from the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County. Metro says the exercise will be its seventh full-scale emergency drill since last year.

Metro says that until the exercise concludes, green line trains will operate in two segments: between Branch Avenue and Congress Heights and between Greenbelt and Congress Heights. Customers will need to transfer at Congress Heights to continue their trip.
