ELY, Nev. (AP) - The White Pine County sheriff’s office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Ely.
Sheriff Dan Watts identified the victim as 53-year-old Johnny Andre of Ely.
He says Andre was crossing a street just before 7 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a car that fled the scene.
Witnesses say the vehicle appeared to be a black-colored Mercedes-Benz. It last was seen traveling north on U.S. Highway 93.
Deputies say it likely has damage to its front end.
