The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports (https://bit.ly/2evP4GE ) that a 260-pound boar grizzly was killed early Sunday morning on Highway 89. It is at least the fifth bear to die in a road collision in the park this year.

Authorities didn’t learn about the crash until a passer-by called about the bear’s carcass on the side of the highway. Park rangers found an abandoned, damaged vehicle about a mile up the road.

Grand Teton spokeswoman Denise Germann says any sort of vehicle injury or damage is supposed to be reported to the park.

Rangers were able to reach the driver, who was not cited for failing to report the incident.
