POWNAL, Maine (AP) - Authorities suspect the weather played a role in a fire that killed a man in Pownal.

Officials say the power had gone out during a winter storm and that the victim was known to use alternative sources of heat to keep warm. But the exact cause is still under investigation.

The victim was identified Friday afternoon as 65-year-old Barry Cain.

A Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman says the fire was reported around 1 a.m. on Friday and Cain’s body was found just before dawn in an apartment above the garage.
