2-car crash leaves husband, wife dead in Vermont

BRANDON, Vt. (AP) - Police in Brandon say a Rutland couple was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 7.

Officers were called to the scene around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police say 84-year-old Charles Ovian and his wife, 83-year-old Sally Ovian, were taken to different hospitals and declared dead.

At the scene, police say they found a vehicle driven by Ryan Kennelly, of New Haven, in a “position of uncontrolled rest” in the southbound lane. Kennelly was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police say the couple’s car was in a similar position off the roadway next to the southbound lane. Both cars sustained extensive damage.
