EAST NORTHPORT, N.Y. (AP) - One person is dead and four others are injured after a chain-reaction accident that sent a car crashing into a pizza restaurant on Long Island.

The multi-vehicle crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. Monday in East Northport.

Suffolk County police say 52-year-old Karla Kovach was driving a Kia when she hit a Nissan that had slowed down in traffic.

The Nissan hit the side of Mario’s Pizzeria. The Kia then spun into the rear of a Mercedes, and the Mercedes rear-ended a Cadillac.

Kovach was taken to Huntington Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say two of the other drivers and two child passengers from the Mercedes were treated for injuries.
