TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A Tacoma man was killed after his car was sheared in half in a wreck on Schuster Parkway in Tacoma.

The News Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2hUtnoc ) the crash happened at about 7 p.m. Friday.

The driver lost control of the car and struck a guard rail, splitting the car in half.



Tacoma Fire Battalion Chief Dave England says the driver’s side of the car fell onto Interstate 705.

It was hit by a van with seven people inside. They all were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Pierce County medical examiner identified the dead driver as Emmanuel Solorio-Lemus of Tacoma.

England says speed was likely a factor. He says he couldn’t remember a crash like that.
