MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) - Two teenagers are dead after their car ran a red light and hit a bus on Long Island.

The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. Friday in Middle Island.

Suffolk County police say 16-year-old driver Giovanni Rivette ran a red light and hit the bus.

Rivette and one of his passengers, 19-year-old Reynaldo Pena, were pronounced dead at a hospital.

Another passenger was treated for minor injuries.

The bus was operated by Rides Unlimited, a nonprofit that provides transportation for disabled people.

Bus driver David Ruiz was not injured in the crash. Police say several of the 18 bus passengers were taken to hospitals as a precaution.
