Alex Ovechkin became the top scorer in Washington Capitals history with a first-period assist Tuesday night against Calgary.

Ovechkin set up Nicklas Backstrom at 10:18 in the first for the record-setting point, giving him 826 in 691 career games. Peter Bondra had held the record of 825 in 961 games with Washington.
