WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - A northeastern Pennsylvania woman who pleaded guilty last month to third-degree murder in the shooting death of her boyfriend now wants to withdraw her plea.

An attorney for 30-year-old Jessica Alinsky filed papers Friday in Luzerne County Court, saying the Shenandoah woman maintains she is “innocent of the charges.”

Jeffrey Markowsky also filed a request to withdraw as Alinsky’s attorney, saying there were “significant philosophical differences concerning the most appropriate defense to raise at trial.”

Alinsky was set to be sentenced next week. A judge will rule on her request.

Alinsky had originally said that 34-year-old Matthew Gailie shot himself in the face during a September 2011 dispute at their Hazle Township home. Prosecutors alleged that she tried to stage the scene as a suicide.
