CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A West Virginia fund that provides low-interest loans for wastewater treatment and collection projects is marking a milestone.
The fund has topped the $1 billion lending mark.
The Clean Water State Revolving Fund is overseen by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
Since 1992, West Virginia has issued 320 loans for projects intended to keep the state’s waterways clean. The lending also helps with projects that keep pollutants from flowing into the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
The most recent loan was provided to the town of Elizabeth in Wirt County. That loan put the fund over the $1 billion mark.
