NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a Brooklyn toddler has died after falling out a sixth-floor apartment window and landing on a balcony three stories down.

It happened at a building on Crown Street near Albany Avenue at about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say the boy - 1-year-old Theodore Nemon - was taken to Kings County Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say the boy apparently climbed from a crib onto a dresser next to the open window.

A police spokesman says there were no safety bars on the window.
