APLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - One person suffered a minor injury in a fire that damaged equipment inside the Aplington-Parkersburg school district bus garage.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1nelGXz ) that the fire broke out around noon on Tuesday in the bus garage’s workroom after a lawn mower was taken inside.

Superintendent Jon Thompson says a custodian suffered a hand burn after falling to the ground while rushing with other custodians to try to control the blaze.



None of the school buses was destroyed. Damage to the structure and other machinery was estimated at $100,000.

The fire cause is being investigated.
