POLSON, Mont. (AP) - The Montana Highway Patrol says two women died in a one-vehicle crash northeast of Ronan.
Lake County officials say a passer-by spotted a vehicle on its top in a canal along Canyon Mill Road, between Pablo and Ronan, just after 6 a.m. Monday. The patrol believes the crash happened between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Trooper Brian Casey says the car swerved for an unknown reason, struck a guardrail and flipped onto its top, landing in the canal. The crash killed the driver, 45-year-old Iva Skelton and her passenger, 56-year-old Karen Jore.
Autopsies are planned.
