CHESWOLD, Del. (AP) - Fire officials say an 18-year-old woman was critically injured in a house fire in Cheswold.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the woman jumped from a 2nd-floor window of the home on Kenton Road, and she was taken to a burn center in critical condition, suffering from burns and smoke inhalation.

Six other people inside the house were able to escape after a passing motorist warned them that it was on fire. The home did not have working smoke detectors.

The fire broke out around 5 a.m. Saturday. Officials say flames were shooting from the 2nd floor when firefighters arrived.
