CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Texas energy company has been fined for not submitting timely production reports on oil and gas leases in Wyoming and Utah.

The Interior Department’s Office of Natural Resources Revenue announced Friday that Sugar Land-based Matrix Production Co. has been assessed two civil penalties totaling $204,362. The company was issued two notices of noncompliance - one in July 2012 and one in May 2013 - for not submitting reports. It later turned in the information.

The company has 30 days to contest the fine. If it’s upheld, the fine will be paid to the federal government.
