HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - A public development agency wants more money to help attract high-tech businesses and younger residents to Hilton Head Island.
Many of the residents on the resort island on the South Carolina coast are retirees and many of the businesses are related to tourism.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports (https://bit.ly/1fiDbwz ) that the Economic Development Corporation formed a year ago is working to lure growing companies including health care and technology companies.
The corporation is asking the town for $450,000 for the fiscal year that begins in July. That’s $400,000 more than this year.
The group plans to use the money for an internet marketing campaign, trips to scout our new businesses and the hiring of an executive director.
