PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities believe drug use was likely a factor after a Phoenix woman was severely burned over half of her body.
Phoenix police say a man and woman called the homeowner and later 911, saying somebody broke into the house and set them on fire Tuesday morning.
Police say evidence found at the scene doesn’t support a home invasion.
Once officers got inside the home, they reported finding evidence of possible drug use, some illegal drugs and at least one shattered vial, possibly a pipe.
The unidentified woman in her mid-20s suffered burns to her face, neck and chest.
They say the man in his mid-20s suffered minor burn injuries to his hands, probably sustained while trying to help the woman.
It’s unclear if the couple will face false reporting charges.
