POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a man armed with a knife has been shot and killed by police officers after confronting them on a Hudson Valley street.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports (https://pojonews.co/NqrsnV ) that police in the city of Poughkeepsie say officers responded to South Clinton Street around 9:10 p.m. Monday for a report of a man causing a disturbance.

Officials say the man was armed with a knife and a struggle occurred. One of the officers shot the man, who later died at a Poughkeepsie hospital.



Police haven’t released the man’s name Tuesday.

Officials say their investigation is continuing.
