ELK CITY, Okla. (AP) - A cut fiber-optic line in western Oklahoma has knocked out 911 and long-distance telephone service to Elk City and surrounding towns.

According to Matt Skinner from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, AT&T has located the cut and is working to repair it, but has not said where it is.

The outage on Monday isolated Elk City plus Carnegie, Cheyenne, Eric, Leedey, Reydon, Roger Mills, Sayre,Sweetwater, Taloga and Vici. The area is serviced by either Dobson Telephone or AT&T.



According to Skinner, residents should still be able to make local calls.
