MINDEN, Nev. (AP) - Douglas County authorities say a 24-year-old Gardnerville man was found dead along a creek at a Minden park.
Investigators say rangers at Lampe Park discovered William Murphey Sheerin around 8:30 a.m. Monday. He was kneeling face down in a creek.
Deputies suspect that Sheerin drowned but a final cause of death won’t be determined until after an autopsy and toxicology tests are completed.
Investigators say receipts from a local store indicate Sheerin purchased alcohol and cigarettes the night before.
It’s unknown when he arrived at the park. Authorities say there was no obvious sign of trauma or evidence of foul play.
