MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Authorities say neighbors in a Killington apartment building got into a fight and two were shot, leaving them with leg wounds.

Vermont state police say 28-year-old Justin Bitar and another man assaulted one of Bitar’s neighbors early Sunday. The neighbor left but later returned and began to fight Bitar again. During the second fight, two shots were fired. One shot wounded the neighbor Bitar had been fighting, and the other wounded a woman who lives in the building. Police didn’t say who fired the shots.

The Rutland Herald reports that the woman was in good condition at a hospital Sunday and that the other victim had been released.

Bitar is charged with aggravated assault and other counts. He’s being held on $25,000 bail and couldn’t be reached for comment.
