HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Former celebrity lawyer Dominic Barbara has pleaded guilty on Long Island to charges including violating his ex-wife’s protection order.
Newsday reports (https://bit.ly/1m81MvD ) that Barbara pleaded guilty Friday in Nassau County District Court to second-degree criminal contempt and disorderly conduct.
The misdemeanor contempt charge was for making contact with his ex-wife through her former attorney in 2012, violating a protection order. The disorderly conduct charge stemmed from an alleged theft of a pocketbook from a store in Manhasset in 2013.
Barbara was sentenced to a conditional discharge that includes required treatment. If he fails to comply with the conditions he faces up to a year in jail.
Barbara’s prominent clients included Joey Buttafuoco, whose wife was shot and wounded by his teenage girlfriend, Amy Fisher.
