FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A Cumberland County high school’s former student is in custody after firing a BB gun inside the building and damaging the principal’s car.
Cumberland County schools spokeswoman Patricia Hollingsworth says E.E. Smith High School was in session on Saturday for a snow make-up day and the incident forced the classrooms locked down. No one was hurt.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says 17-year old Antionwan (An-TWON’) Haskins is charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, disorderly conduct, disrupting students and injury to personal property.
Deputies say surveillance video shows Haskins firing a BB gun into a wall near the principal’s office, then hitting the windshield of the principal’s car with a pellet.
Haskins’ mother brought him back to the school for him to surrender to authorities.
