ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say a motorist was killed in a car crash that involved an Atlanta police officer who was responding to a call.

CBS Atlanta reports (https://bit.ly/1fz7Ip6) that the collision happened around 1:30 a.m. on Cleveland Avenue.

Investigators said the Atlanta officer was on his way to a call when they say a van turned into his path.

Police said they did not immediately know whether the officer’s lights and sirens were activated when the collision occurred.

One person in the van died, and a second person was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The officer did not appear to have sustained any serious injuries.

Few other details were immediately available Saturday morning.
