BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Police in Bennington, Vt., say half of the community lost power after a vehicle struck a utility pole.

WCAX-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1kQIquJ) the pole snapped and left 2,700 homes without electricity Thursday night.

The driver, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in Albany, N.Y., with serious injuries.
