PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A 28-year-old man who provided the gun used in a robbery that ended with a triple homicide in Providence has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The Rhode Island attorney general’s office said Timothy DeBritto pleaded guilty Friday for his role in the 2012 killings of Shemeeka Barrows, Damien Colon and Michael Martin.

Under a plea agreement, DeBritto got 40 years on firearm charges and 10 years, to be served concurrently, on a charge of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Two others have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing. The Providence Journal reports DeBritto has agreed to testify against another defendant awaiting trial. As part of the agreement, the court also reduced a sentence DeBritto is serving for shooting a romantic rival, from 50 years to 30.
