JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A northeast Florida man faces life in prison for fatally shooting his wife during an argument.

A Duval County jury found 68-year-old Michael Wolfe Morris guilty Thursday of first-degree murder. He will receive a mandatory life sentence.

Authorities say Morris and his wife, 55-year-old Barbara Sedlar Morris, began arguing after several drinks at their Jacksonville Beach home in March 2012. When Barbara Morris tried to leave, authorities say Michael Morris dragged her back inside and beat her. He then shot her seven times in the head and upper body.

The Florida Times-Union (https://goo.gl/YCN2Pg ) reports that Morris was a gun collector and had 40 guns in his home at the time.

A police officer who lived across the street from the couple heard the shooting and got Morris to surrender.
