WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Authorities in Waterloo are investigating whether a car shooting is linked to the beating of a man at a shopping mall.

Waterloo police say several people allegedly attacked 20-year-old Keith Devon Hayes on Wednesday night at the Crosswords Center mall. Several hours later, 18-year-old Tondrell Gary was brought to an emergency room with a gunshot wound to his shoulder blade.

Hayes suffered punches and kicks to the head and he was found unconscious. Allen’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. No arrests have been made in either case.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1nnUQw2 ) police are looking for any connection between the incidents because an argument broke out at the hospital among friends of both men. Hospital security contained the disturbance.
