PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) - A Florida Panhandle teen has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for his part in a fatal drug robbery.

A Bay County judge sentenced 19-year-old Katari Jackson on Wednesday after he pleaded no contest to second-degree murder.

Authorities say Jackson and co-defendant Damon Washington had planned to steal about $200 worth of marijuana from Christopher Purswell near Rutherford High School in March 2013. When Purswell produced the drugs, expecting to sell them, Jackson shot Purswell in the head. Washington and Jackson then shot Brandon Junlakan, who had been with Purswell, but Junlakan survived.

The Panama City News Herald (https://goo.gl/5xgs0e ) reports that Washington agreed to plead no contest last week to manslaughter and attempted robbery with a firearm in exchange for a 10-year sentence.
