JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - The state Supreme Court has lifted its suspension of a troubled southern Indiana drug court and given it a six-month conditional certification that allows nearly 75 participants to remain in the program.

The high court lifted the suspension of the Clark County Drug Court on March 7 and imposed conditions including no new participants unless authorized by the state and periodic updates to the state.

The News and Tribune and the (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal reported Thursday that Clark Circuit Judge Vicki Carmichael has taken over supervising the program from Circuit Judge Jerry Jacobi.

Plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit against the Drug Court include some who say they were subject to arrest by court staff without arrest powers and incarcerated for more than 72 hours without hearings or other due process.
