TITUSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - A northwestern Pennsylvania woman has been ordered to stand trial on a charge of criminal homicide - and lesser included offenses of third-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter - for allegedly shooting her live-in boyfriend while she was packing up to move out.

Thirty-nine-year-old Tina Louise Shaffer, of Plum Township, was ordered to stand trial after Wednesday’s preliminary hearing into the death of 49-year-old Lloyd “Buddy” Shontz Jr.

State police in Franklin say Shaffer’s adult son called 911 to report the shooting about 6:20 p.m. March 4, minutes after Shontz himself twice called 911 but hung up.

Troopers who testified Wednesday says Shaffer told police Shontz either handed her the gun and said, “Shoot me if that’s what you want” or was aiming the gun at himself when he asked her to pull the trigger.

Shaffer has pleaded not guilty.
