NEW YORK (AP) - A center for victims of domestic violence has opened in Manhattan.

The Manhattan Family Justice Center consolidates legal and counseling resources under one roof.

The $6.5 million center is the fourth and largest such center to open in the city. The others are in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens.

It officially opened on Wednesday.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance says domestic violence remains a large problem even as other violent crimes in the city have dropped.

His office prosecuted 6,500 cases in 2013. A decade ago that number was 5,600.
