KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - A Kalispell man has denied a charge that alleges he took $136,000 from a man he was taking care of.
The Daily Inter Lake reports 66-year-old Jack Role pleaded not guilty to felony theft Thursday during a hearing in District Court in Kalispell.
Prosecutors say the victim’s children hired Role to care for their father for $1,500 per month. As part of the job, Role had access to the man’s bank accounts.
Court records say an audit determined $136,000 went missing from the man’s account over a three-year period during which Role worked for him.
Investigators say Role admitted he withdrew the money to gamble.
Role’s next hearing is set for April 9.
