MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - A suburban New York bookkeeper who stole more than $866,000 over a six-year period is going to prison for up to nine years.

Lori Maceluch of Huntington pleaded guilty in January to grand larceny and other charges. She admitted stealing the money from a Long Island architectural firm where she worked.

She was sentenced to three-to-nine years Tuesday in Nassau County Court.

Prosecutors say she forged a partner’s signature on 568 checks she wrote to herself. She used the money for dinners, vacations to Florida, the Caribbean and elsewhere. She also spent thousands on credit card payments to various retailers.

The thefts occurred between May 2005 and September 2011.

Maceluch, who is 48, also was ordered to pay restitution.

The theft was discovered after an internal audit.
