KENNER, La. (AP) - Kenner police have arrested a man suspected of barging into a home with a machete and stealing a laptop computer.
Police allege 19-year-old Victor Manuel Vega-Ramiro, wearing a mask and wielding the knife, forced his way into a home on Feb. 24. The New Orleans Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1kcHoq1 ) once inside, Vega-Ramiro told the occupants to lie on a bed while he ransacked the home before fleeing with the computer.
Witnesses told police they saw Vega-Ramiro flee in an SUV that had a spare tire on the driver’s side. Detectives later found the vehicle and what they said was evidence that linked Vega-Ramiro to the burglary. They didn’t say what that evidence was.
Vega-Ramiro allegedly confessed to the crime during an interview with detectives.
He remained jailed Monday on $150,000 bail.
