ST. JAMES, La. (AP) - One person was injured in a shooting following a boys high school basketball game in St. James Parish.
Sheriff Willie Martin Jr. told The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1dvZlPE) shots were fired at about Tuesday night in the St. James High School parking lot after St. James beat Lutcher 80-58.
Martin says 19-year-old Cowan Franklin, of Lutcher, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He says Franklin was able to give deputies the name of the shooter.
The sheriff says the 17-year-old shooter was booked with attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm on school property and illegal use of a dangerous weapon.
Martin said the shooting was the results of an argument between Elder and Franklin earlier on Tuesday.
Deputies think a second person in custody may have been with the teen during or after the shooting.
