MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - Moundsville officials are updating the city’s comprehensive plan for the first time in more than 40 years.

The plan was last updated in 1972. Since then, the West Virginia Penitentiary and the Fostoria Glass Co. plant have closed and natural gas drillers and processors have moved into the area.

The new plan’s priority goals include annexing surrounding areas, developing an urban renewal authority and revitalizing the Commercial Historic District.

City manager Deanna Hess tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News Register (https://bit.ly/1elvhT9 ) that a public hearing on the plan will be held May 14 in City Council chambers.
