COVE CREEK, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say one lane of Interstate 40 West in the North Carolina mountains has reopened after a tanker truck overturned near the Tennessee state line.

The Department of Transportation said the tanker wrecked Monday afternoon at mile marker 6 in Haywood County and closed the entire road.

Officials said early Tuesday the left lane had reopened. They hoped to have the right lane reopened by 8 a.m. Tuesday..
