WASHINGTON, Mo. (AP) - A 90-year-old Franklin County man is dead after his car was hit by a tractor-trailer near Washington.

The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the driver as Raymond Kastendieck. The Washington Missourian (bit.ly/1nlRBnN ) reports that the crash happened Monday afternoon on State Route 47.

Kastendieck’s 2004 Dodge Stratus collided with the tractor-trailer after the elderly driver lost control of his car, which struck a guardrail and then crossed into the opposite lane.

The patrol says the tractor-trailer struck the passenger side of Kastendieck’s car, pushing it off the road and down an embankment.

Kastendieck was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
