UNIONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Fire investigators are looking at oxygen tanks as the possible source of explosions and a fire that severely damaged a couple’s upstate New York home.

Officials tell the Times Herald-Record of Middletown (https://bit.ly/1iLVb3A ) that the first explosion occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the Orange County village of Unionville, on the New Jersey border 55 miles northwest of New York City.

Authorities say the couple heard noises outside the home, saw a glow and were exiting the house when the second explosion occurred. Explosions were still occurring when firefighters arrived just minutes later.

Dozens of firefighters battled the blaze before getting it under control.

The couple was treated at a hospital and released.

Officials say oxygen tanks stored at the home and used by the woman are being looked at as the origin of the blasts.
