ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The State Liquor Authority has approved a series of measures following the state’s second beer, wine, spirits and cider summit, where industry participants discussed legislative and regulatory issues.
Starting Thursday, the agency will simplify brand label registration and eliminate paperwork for manufacturers, authorize the sale of refillable “growlers” for beer and cider, and eliminate a required $1,000 bond for farm wineries.
As a result of the summit, the agency is reducing costs for manufacturers and wholesalers with multiple licenses by allowing them to deliver all their products in one shipment and providing guidance to the alcoholic beverage industry concerning the new roadside farm market law.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo is also planning on introducing the Craft New York Act to help the industry grow.
