CAIRO — The head of Egypt’s election committee says the planned voting of Egyptians who live abroad on a disputed draft constitution has been postponed.
Friday’s announcement could signal an attempt by President Mohammed Morsi to give a room for negotiations with the opposition, which is demanding the cancellation of the whole referendum set for a nationwide vote on Dec. 15.
Ismail Hamdi says that the weeklong expatriate voting, which had been due to begin Saturday, will begin Wednesday instead.
